L2TP/IPSec (Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol) is the easiest way to setup a VPN connection on iOS devices. iOS supports this protocol natively. The point-to-point communication between the client computer and the VPN server is encrypted using  IPSec suite to provide end-to-end encryption.

Setting up a VPN Connection

Open up your “Settings” and tap on “General”.
Tap “VPN”.

Choose “VPN” as the interface and choose “L2TP over IPSec” as the VPN type.

Tap “Add VPN Configuration”
Name your connection “Bilkent-L2TP”.

Fill in Server address: vpn-ng.bilkent.edu.tr and your VPN account name and password.

The “secret” is “bilkent” (all lowercase, without the quotes).

Enable “Send All Traffic”.

You should be able to establish a connection sliding the “Status” button towards right.
When a VPN connection is established, you should see the VPN icon at the top of your screen.
Visit http://whatismyasn.org and make sure that you are connected to the VPN server.
